The Flame of Passion in the Career of Nurturing Knowledge by the “Digital Mind Designer”
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” This quote by Nelson Mandela has been deeply etched in the minds of many generations of educators as a reminder of the noble mission and the importance of education in shaping and building the future. This is also the motto that Ms. Nguyen Thi Diep – Technology Teacher at SISS – has always pursued. She is also one of the outstanding teachers who won the prestigious “2024 Golden Apple Award.”
Let’s meet and listen to the heartfelt stories shared by Ms. Nguyen Thi Diep in our Magazine Issue No. 19!
How do you feel about being one of the prominent members inspiring others in the mission of nurturing knowledge at RT Holdings?
I am extremely proud to be recognized by RT Holdings as one of the exemplary and inspiring members in the academic year 2023 – 2024. Additionally, I am very grateful to my colleagues in the Group in general and at SISS in particular for their support and trust. The award is the clearest evidence of my efforts and dedication over the years. With this recognition, I realize that I need to continuously innovate and further improve the quality of my teaching to live up to the trust and expectations of the Group and students.
What values and principles do you always uphold in your teaching journey?
The values and principles that I have always upheld throughout my teaching career are:
- Patience: I understand that each student has a different learning pace and way of understanding, so patience is necessary with each of them.
- Fair Assessment: I ensure that each student is assessed fairly and transparently in all school activities.
- Respect and Empathy: I always listen to and understand the needs and desires of students to create a friendly, positive, and happy learning environment.
- Creativity and Innovation: I constantly seek and update knowledge, applying creative teaching methods to stimulate curiosity and interest in learning among students.
- Encouraging Critical and Creative Thinking: I always encourage each student to develop critical thinking, independence, and creativity, providing them with a solid foundation for their future lives and work.
- Role Model: I aim to maintain ethical qualities, being a bright example for students to follow, thereby shaping good character in them.
Reflecting on your past experiences, what do you consider to be your most significant achievement so far?
For me, the success of my students is the greatest reward I have reaped throughout my teaching career. Seeing them grow and achieve excellent academic results, as well as winning competitions, brings me immense joy. I am also very happy to have inspired and motivated my students, helping them find their own passions and goals. A prime example is the 2023 Vex Robotics Competition held in Hanoi, where my students impressed the judges and achieved remarkable success. Besides these successes, I have contributed to the School’s development by actively participating in activities, contributing ideas for curriculum development, and implementing initiatives to improve teaching quality, thereby contributing to the overall growth of the Group.
How do you view the development and changes in the current educational environment?
The development and changes in the current educational environment are revolutionary, with the widespread adoption of educational technology and innovative teaching methods such as online learning, e-books, and learning apps. This has changed the way knowledge is accessed, making learning easier, more flexible, and more effective for students. Additionally, one of the modern teaching methods being implemented in the Group is the project-based learning method and the flipped classroom, which allow students to confidently demonstrate critical thinking and creativity most effectively. Furthermore, education increasingly focuses on the development of soft skills and comprehensive education, including both physical and mental aspects. Educational programs not only concentrate on academic knowledge but also aim to equip students with the necessary skills to face future life and work challenges.
In summary, the development and changes in the current educational environment bring many opportunities and potential but also pose numerous challenges. Adapting to these changes is a crucial task for every teacher, not only to impart knowledge but also to ignite a passion for learning and independence in students.
Do you have any future plans or goals to continue improving your teaching quality and making contributions to the School?
I will continue to research and apply new teaching methods to optimize student learning and encourage the development of their soft skills. In parallel, I will update my professional knowledge by attending courses and workshops to improve teaching content and apply the most effective methods. Importantly, I will maintain the use of applications, software, and electronic learning tools to enhance interaction and effectiveness for my students.
