Students Learn Most Effectively Through Experience, Exploration, and Creativity
Learning is not merely about acquiring knowledge; it is a continuous journey of experience, exploration, and creativity. We warmly invite our valued teachers and readers to discover the special emotions, behind-the-scenes challenges, and valuable lessons shared by the Light Up Crew teaching team, consisting of Ms. Dao Thi Ngoc Anh, Ms. Tran Thi Thao, Ms. Vo Hong Tu Minh, Ms. Le Thi Minh Hang, and Ms. Bach Thuy Trang. Their heartfelt reflections unveil the inspiring journey behind the project “From Light to Movie”-the First Prize winner of the “Innovative Teaching Awards 2025” at WASS.
– Greetings, Light Up Crew! As the authors of the project recognized as the most outstanding in terms of professional expertise and creativity, could you share your feelings upon receiving this prestigious award?
We are truly honored and deeply moved that our project “From Light to Movie” was highly appreciated by the Judging Panel and awarded the First Prize. This recognition is not only an acknowledgment of our professional dedication and innovative spirit, but also a great motivation for us to continue pursuing experiential and practice-based teaching approaches.

For us, the greatest value of the project does not lie in the award itself, but in the fact that students were able to learn with excitement-“touching” scientific knowledge through hands-on exploration of light and creating their own learning products. This award affirms our belief that ideas originating from the classroom, when thoughtfully and seriously developed, can generate a meaningful and positive impact in education.
– Throughout the implementation of the project, which stage did you find the most challenging?
The greatest challenge for us was designing and organizing activities that were appropriate for primary students’ abilities, particularly transforming scientific concepts of light into visual, engaging, and easy-to-understand experiences while still ensuring scientific accuracy. Balancing creativity, class time, and safety requirements when using materials and lighting equipment required thorough preparation. In addition, organizing group work, assigning tasks, and guiding students to complete their products within a limited timeframe also presented considerable challenges.
However, these difficulties encouraged us to continuously refine our methods, become more flexible in instructional design, and take on a more attentive and supportive role as facilitators.
– After completing the project, what practical lessons have you gained from this experience?
Through the project “From Light to Movie”, we reaffirmed that students learn most effectively when they are given opportunities to experience, explore, and create. Empowering students to engage in every stage of the process-from knowledge exploration and model design to presentation and reflection – helped them significantly develop collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills. The project also highlighted the crucial role of teachers in providing guidance, support, and meaningful interdisciplinary connections. Another important lesson was the need for careful preparation of learning materials, activity plans, and contingency strategies to ensure the project runs smoothly and successfully.
From practical implementation, we strongly believe that project-based learning, when invested in and executed in the right direction, can nurture students’ love for learning and enhance their ability to apply knowledge to real-life situations.
