On January 20 & 21, 2024, PennSchool’s dedicated teachers escorted 6 talented teams to participate in the Vietnam VEX Robotics National Championship 2024.
To thoroughly prepare for the National Round, #HomeOfTheEagles spent 2 whole months training with the guidance of Ms. Vo Le Phuc Hau and Ms. Pham Thi Thuy Vy. As instructors, the teachers supervised and supported the students to assemble and program an ideal “robot warriors.” In addition, the teachers also assisted the students in the testing process at friendly tournaments, and provided them suitable advice to improve their competitiveness.
Being well-equipped with a strong mindset and skills, the 6 teams in PennSchool uniform participated to compete in Groups of Primary School and High School, battling against 250 competing teams from 31 provinces and cities all over Vietnam.
After more than 2,000 intense matches, the Vietnam VEX Robotics National Championship 2024 came to a glorious end. #HomeOfTheEagles excellently placed their names on the list of teams with impressive archivements.
In the High School Group, PENN MI GOI team has won the Fulbright Young Innovator Award, brought home an attractive scholarship prize worth 187 million VND for each team member, and opened up an opportunity to enroll at FulBright University Vietnam.
Under the guidance of the teachers, PENN MI GOI team also splendidly executed the Technical Design and Interview Process, along with Efficient Time Management, therefore won the Design Award.
In the main competition, PENN MI GOI also achieved high ranks in other categories, such as the Top 5 Robot Skills Challenge and the Top 8 Teamwork Challenge.
PENN MI Y team showed advanced robotic control skills, followed by the fellow PennSchool team in the Robot Skills Challenge, which achieved the 6th rank and outperformed in the Teamwork Challenge, which placed at the 4th rank.
In Junior groups, the teacher successfully guided the PennSchool teams to impress both audiences and the judges with intriguing matches and leave a strong impression at the national competition.
In the Secondary school Group, PENN ROOKIES team surpassed 93 teams, which ranked 36th out of 129 in the Robot Skills Challenge, and 26th out of 50 in the Teamwork Challenge.
Our young warriors from the PENN CHEESE team made an impression in the Primary School Group, achieving a 25th rank out of 31 in the Teamwork Challenge and a 43rd rank out of 57 in the Robot Skills Challenge. Whereas the PENN BANANA team achieved a 22nd rank out of 33 in the Teamwork Challenge and a 46th rank out of 57 in the Robot Skills Challenge.
Vietnam VEX Robotics National Championship is part of “A Year Of Robotics 2024” program, held with the cooperation of STEAM for Vietnam, The American Center (the U.S. Embassy & Consulate in Vietnam), and Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
The competition provides a playground for passionate “robotic engineers,” enabling them to improve their skills in programming and assembling VEX Robotics systems. This is also a chance for teachers to guide students to apply theoretical knowledge learned in Pennschool into practice and raise the interest in study and training, as well as helping them create beautiful memories under the roof of PennSchool.
Accompanying the Robotics team throughout the journey, PennSchool has seen the growth of the students both in critical thinking and technological skills. Step by step, the School has been giving students many opportunities to present the qualities and abilities of an empowered global citizen, and fostering the core value of #HomeOfTheEagles.
